Silent Auction Conditions of Sale

All auction items are sold “as is” and are subject to California sales tax. To constitute a valid bid, the initial bid on an item must meet or exceed the stated minimum bid. All further bids must exceed the previous bid by an amount equal to or greater than the stated minimum bid increment.

The value stated on the bid sheet represents the donor’s good faith estimate of fair market value. Any questions regarding the tax deductibility of your purchase should be referred to your personal tax accountant or lawyer.

The Decorator Showcase reserves the right to add or remove items from the Silent Auction at any time.

Gift Certificates: Restaurants and hotel gift certificates generally do not include tax, gratuity or alcohol. All gift certificates are non-refundable and have no redeemable cash value. Gift certificates will be mailed to the winning bidder after the close of the auction.

Most gift certificates purchased at the Silent Auction have expiration dates. Neither the donor nor the Decorator Showcase has an obligation to extend or modify the donations. Please check your gift certificate carefully. Lost certificates are not replaceable.

Take-Home Price: If you really want an item, write your name opposite the amount labeled “Take-Home Price” found at the bottom of each bid card. The first person to place his/her name in the “Take-Home Price” box owns the item. Most items have a “Take-Home Price.”

Your signature on the bid card constitutes a legal contract to purchase. The highest bidder on an item becomes the purchaser of that item in the full amount of the bid. Top bids will be determined at 4:00 p.m., on the last day Showcase is open. Winning bidders will be notified on the spot or by telephone during the week following the close of the Decorator Showcase. Confirmation of credit card charges and arrangement for pick-up of items will be made at the time of the call. Items under active bid by two or more parties at the close of the auction will be subject to spontaneous live auction to determine the winning bidder.

All items must be picked up at the Showcase within 48 hours of notification. If an item is unclaimed within 48 hours, we reserve the right to contact the next highest bidder. Visa and MasterCard payments must be processed before items can be claimed.

After placing your bids, you are invited to return to update them on the last day of Showcase from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. Arrangements can be made for you to re-enter the Silent Auction space without charge, but re-admittance to the house requires a ticket purchase. You may also update your bid anytime during the Showcase by calling the Silent Auction.
